Premio Umalca
El premio Reconocimiento de la Unión Matemática de América Latina y el Caribe fue creado en el año 2000, para destacar a los matemáticos más sobresalientes que trabajan permanentemente en la región, así como estimular y reconocer sus contribuciones a las matemáticas.
El Premio ha beneficiado a un muy buen número de candidaturas de excelente nivel, según los mejores padrones internacionales, originarios de la mayoría de los países miembros de la UMALCA, lo que comprueba la vitalidad de la investigación matemática en nuestra continente.
Bases e instrucciones para la próxima convocatoria:
El Premio UMALCA está dirigido a distinguir a matemáticos con lugar de trabajo en universidades o centros de investigación de Latinoamérica y el Caribe, que hayan desarrollado una significativa labor en su área de conocimiento así como una remarcable actividad en el desarrollo de la ciencia matemática de la Región. La decisión sobre los acreedores al Premio es responsabilidad del Comité Científico del Congreso. El Premio consistirá en la entrega de una medalla y un diploma distintivos y en el dictado de una conferencia en el marco del IV Congreso Latinoamericano de Matemáticos (www.famaf.unc.edu.ar/clam2012/ ) a realizarse en Córdoba, Argentina del 6 al 10 de agosto de 2012. Para postularse a este Premio los interesados deberán
a) Tener hasta 45 años al 31 de diciembre de 2012.
b) Trabajar en una Universidad o Centro Académico de Investigación dentro de Latinoamérica y el Caribe.
c) Presentar su CV actualizado y una carta de postulación al Premio firmada por una autoridad dentro de la Universidad o Centro Académico de Investigación donde el candidato lleva adelante su labor, o bien de una autoridad de sociedad científica a la cual pertenezca el candidato. Dicho CV y carta de presentación deberán ser enviados por correo electrónico al Coordinador del Comité Científico del IV CLAM, Dr. Lucas Barbosa (Univ. Federal de Ceará, Brasil, correo electrónico: joaolucasbarbosa@terra.com.br), colocando como tema de ese mensaje POSTULACION PREMIO UMALCA 2012.
d) El CV y la carta de postulación al Premio deberán ser enviados antes del 29 de febrero de 2012 (inclusive). Los resultados de esta evaluación serán informados a los candidatos antes del 15 de junio de 2012.

Instructions for the nominations to UMALCA Prize:
The UMALCA Prize was created in the year 2000 to distinguish mathematicians working at universities or research centers in Latin America and the Caribbean, who have contributed with significant results in mathematics and who show a remarkable activity in the development of mathematics in the region.
The decision on the UMALCA Prize is the responsability of the Scientific Committee of the Congress. The winners will receive a commemorative medal, a diploma and will give a special lecture during the meeting,to be held in Cordoba in August 6-10, 2012.
Those mathematicians interested in being considered for the prize must satisfy the following requirements:
a) To be up to 45 years old by December 31, 2012.
b) To work at a university or research center in Latin America and the Caribbean.
c) The candidate should present an updated CV and a letter of application, signed by an authority at the University or Academic Center where the candidate works, or from a scientific society the candidate belongs to. The CV and application letter should be sent by email to the Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the IVth CLAM, Dr. Lucas Barbosa (Univ. Federal de Ceará, Brasil, email: joaolucasbarbosa@terra.com.br) with the subject: POSTULACION PREMIO UMALCA 2012.
d) The CV together with the application letter should be sent before February 29, 2012, (included). The results of this evaluation will be informed to the candidates, by the Scientific Committee, before June 15 2012.
